OpTic sent Splyce home after beating them 2-1 in the first match of Day 2 in London (16-3 on Mirage, 12-16 on Train, and 16-8 on Cobblestone).
Two North American teams faced off in Group A's elimination match. In their opening matches at the CEVO Gfinity Professional Season 9 Finals, OpTic lost to HellRaisers 2-1 while Splyce fell to Virtus.pro with the same scoreline.
OpTic started on the CT-side of Mirage and secured the pistol round. They also got the first weapon round and gained a 4-0 advantage. Splyce grabbed their first round on the fifth but got reset right after as they lost the following one (5-1).
Splyce picked up another round after losing two but OpTic answered with six of their own to make it 12-2. David "DAVEY" Stafford took the stage once again as he clutched a 1v3 to secure his team's third round as the half finished with a 12-3 score.
The Spanish player is mixing in well with his new team
Oscar "mixwell" Cañellas picked up an opening-kill to kick off the second half and William "RUSH" Wierzba closed out the round with a quad-kill (13-3). OpTic did not mess around and finished it off 16-3 to take the first map victory.
Splyce had a better start on Train as they won the pistol round and the anti-ecos on their T-side. OpTic got back into it with RUSH's triple-kill as they stopped an A-push in the first buy round. After OpTic tied it at 3-3, Splyce had a perfect round and took the lead without losing a single player.
Splyce's double AWP setup paid off and they controlled the pace of the first half with their strong A rushes. Andrew "Professor_Chaos" Heintz clutched a 1v2 to get his team their 10th round and Splyce won the half 11-4, gaining a massive advantage before going into the their CT-side.
DAVEY stepped up in crucial rounds
This advantage started to fade when OpTic won the pistol round and went on to cut the deficit to two rounds (13-11). OpTic had the chance to tie it at 13-13 but lost a 2v2 and Splyce closed it out 16-12.
Cobblestone was the last map and the CT-sided OpTic grabbed the pistol round thanks to Damian "daps" Steele's triple-kill. Although they secured the first weapon round, OpTic lost a 2v4 to pistols of Splyce (4-1). As OpTic extended their lead to 7-2, Splyce called a timeout to sort out their T-side strategy.
After the timeout, Splyce planted the bomb on the B-site but the retake was strong and OpTic made it 8-2. Splyce finally replied back towards the end of the first half as DAVEY kept getting entry-kills and the score was 9-6 in favor of OpTic at halftime.
Splyce had a clean pistol round on their CT-side and the momentum was on their side but Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz's quad-kill gave OpTic their 10th round and they went on to make it 12-7. A MAG-7 triple-kill by Professor_Chaos kept Splyce alive but they got reset right afterwards and OpTic won the map and the series, 16-8 and 2-1, respectively.
